If you don't have enough to worry about! Kids White Golden is a tick magnet, after a walk you can pick 10 off him. His has had the Lyme disease shot(waste of money in my opinion) and is on a flea med. Developed a low grade fever, lethargic and a little sore in the hips(Lyme symptoms), $1500 later the Vet decide he has something similar to Lyme, probably carried by a biting insect/bug, his blood platelets were low. All other blood work was normal, all organ functions were normal, it took 3 blood tests for the low platelets to show up. Doxycycline and pain med he is improving... fever is gone.
Their Vet thinks it is something new, flying insect carried maybe avian related. Amoxicillin didn't touch it. So, just because it acts like Lyme it may be something else.
