Thanks for the Kohler and haybine info.

I got info on the case 555 haybine I
actually wanted, in Nebraska of course.
Lol, they can never be close. But it seems
in decent shape.


Coincidentally I git a call from a poster in Iowa that had a case rotary hoe that he said I could have if it wanted it. It was right on the way home, so I stopped and got it as well.


The haybine had a broken pitman arm.


The nut had come loose allowing it to hammer and I'm sure that's why it broke. That piece and the ball had been replaced recently so I just welded it and put it back together. The bearing in the pivot was out as well, so that got new bearings. Was surprised to find they are the same bearings as a standard 2k axle and I had a set on the shelf. The panels in the rear that you adjust to make the row were missing as well and they are what supports the rear, so I had to add a brace to hold that up. I just put a piece of pipe on each side. If I find a set of shields I'll put them on and take the pipes out. I don't need them because I let the rows spread as much as I can to dry faster anyway.


I ran it on a couple acres to try it and it cuts great in 4th gear with the 830 and would likely take 5th gear in good conditions. 4th is about 5 mph.

Bill from Barneveld implement saw what I posted about the Kohler and made me a smoking deal on a complete rebuilt 10hp Kohler that is an exact fit, even has a new mower clutch and fan on it. He tool the old Onan engines from my skidloader in trade, so the price was about what a used engine would sell for.


So on Saturday I'll be heading to Wisconsin to pick that up.
