Any grease is better than no grease. To some extent that is true if it never gets greased after it is delivered to the farm then yes. If it gets regular greasing then probably the better grease is a better plan. I've used all kinds of greases from Mixed transmission oil into grease for the rollers on the Cat tracks. To heavy grease in guns on fittings. Dad always said if it doesn't get in the bearing it can't do much good. I used the red tack from the local fuel supplier and have used a Unoba moly grease for things. I liked the Unoba grease on the corn dryer even in the winter. Would either keep the gun in the cellar for the heat or grease it when it warmed up some. That moly grease you could not wipe off. The Red Tack I've used on the semi's since I started with them with no problems and some of the drive line has not been changed since it was new with over a million mile on it. Greased ever weekend or about 3,000 miles. Reason for changing was they changed the moly grease and I didn't like it after the change. We oil roller chains with used engine oil too.
