Used to be there were more posts about fixing tractors here. Remember Alan NE? He was always working on something and posted good photos to go along with the job. ACG was another guy I liked to watch what he built. Sometimes I wonder if we just come here to argue so I thought I would make a post about fixing a tractor for a change. I woke up thinking about doing these handles this morning. This Ford dual remote valve had very poor handles on it. The lower one was broken and the upper one was just a piece of flat bar that someone had crudely added. Replacement handles for these are made of unobtainium.
I had saved this handle from a different valve for years. Obviously it wouldn't work but the pivot did fit on this valve.
So I chopped it apart, brazed in a piece of steel and made a handle to fit. I also repaired the lower handle so it is good again. It ain't so pretty but it is once again, suitable for everyday use.
Anyway, this is what I did this morning and it wasn't intended to start an argument. Though you're all entitled to argue about it if you wish. Jerry
