Dan, Do not feel bad, Ive rebuilt em before and they wouldnt run. My experience has been (you said you had spark !!) its often the timing maybe set way too slow. Do the plugs look wet after you cranked it a while ??? I assume the firing order is right?? but if you got wired on wrong plugs, it usually backfires fierce. Is it doing that ?? If the firing order and timing is right and it doesnt back fire, I usually have a buddy hold the starter down while I manually adjust the timing back and forth. Also, are you sure the distributor is back in timing in the right slot ? I would bring number one back up on compression and be sure the rotor cap is pointing at the number one terminal wire cap not one half inch away. You said you had spark, so Im still thinking timing and distributor orientation, although as I said, if off it usually backfires fierce. TIMING AND DISTRIBUTOR ORIENTATION ?????? assuming you have fuel, correct valve timing, and a good spark even if at wrong time. JOhn T in Indiana jmn50@msn.com
