Steve, Read a lot of books on tractors, talk to some guys with experience, but most of all LOOK AT A LOT OF TRACTORS. I looked for over a year, joined a tractor club, and bought all the books I could on the different makes of tractors. I ended up buying a Oliver Super 55 diesel. It has lots of hours, but it starts well, has good rubber, a pto and a three point. I bought a 3 point scoop for digging and a 7' back blade. Put on a waterpump, and a fan pulley and had the fluids changed. I paid 2,600 for the tractor, 425 for bucket, 400 for the blade and spent probably 1000 for batteries and the service I had done initially. That comes to $4,425.
