is geared in daily demand. Past history of sales turned upside down thus restock didn't happen till way too late. Plus many didn't return to work. & like a big snowball it got much bigger as it went down hill. As for my store I could see things were not getting any better only worse. I drove close to 400 miles to buy 10w30 & 15w50 motorcraft diesel oil & had to buy in 55 gallon barrels But I had some to sell I didn't buy it all but bought more than I normally did picking up a extra drum of each. To my surprise We returned to that same warehouse & picked up 3 more barrels of each. I run a smaller Ford Store & we build a new building during Covid. The building still isn't done but we moved in in October of 21. Be for the moved I looked at my backorders & added them up to near 71K at dealer cost. I cancelled many of those parts because I didn't want to move them along with the rest of Inventory. Parts ordered for customers I kept on the list & shortened the list to 48 different parts. To this day 3 of those parts still haven't came, 2 were ordered May of 20. First part of January I couldn't take it anymore, told my owner I was retireing, a tad early , but tired of being held responsible for something that is out of control with no end in sight. Tired of being yelled at by customers, mechanics & owners, tired of trying to locate a part at another dealer only to find out they wouldn't sell it to me, because they too knew replacement part was impossible to find. Ford has parts with a monthly demand of 3000 & there are over 40K backordered. So ask yourself or do the math & figure out how many months manufacturing is behind? My neighboring GM & Mopar store's are in the same boat, all of us have had to use Aftermarket parts to have parts to sell.. Now I sleep better, but I don't think the winter is a good time to retire? LOL
