hey john a while back i posted about my farmall cub eating voltage regulators at least once a year. the last one i got a cheapie from amazon, it charged for about 20 minutes and the quit. ammeter spikes and then that was it. just got a call from the starter shop, the field windings were bad. the insulation was original and it had cracked and deteriorated over the decades. who'd a thunk it would wear out after only 70 years..?
