After a friend went through a similiar problem with his Yanmar powered JD, I would say you are correct, Dave. The compression is too low. Compression should be more than twice that 130# number. My friend was very unfortunate in that the shop failed to determine the "root cause" of the compression problem and as a result they rebuilt the engine twice and the injector pump and injectors were replaced or rebuilt. The final theory was water contamination of the air cleaner. Snow was caught in the air cleaner and later thawed. When the tractor was used again moisture/water from the wet air cleaner was drawn into the cylinders, contaminated the lube oil and washed the cylinder walls. Since the air filter was not changed after initial rebuild the problem occurred all over again over a period of a couple of months. Even though the shop stood behind its work and didn't charge full price for all the repairs, the series of events went on for nearly a year. Needless to say my friend was quite frustrated. Just relating an experience of a friend............jag
