Yes! I have 18 hp riders, 20 hp, and 22 hp riders (came with the larger hp over the years) and no doubt the later models with the larger engines have faster ground speed and throw clippings out farther and cleaner using the same basic deck design...so it's gotta be tip speed and blade design.....46 2 blade,stamped steel, smooth discharge path increasing to 4 height at the chute and wide open side part of it is they seem to come with lifting blades and the rest of it is folks want the two things I mentioned so 22 hp is the craze in the lower width mowers.
The higher hp is to drive the above. Seems Kohler has come out with their 7000 series V twin 22 and my latest Craftsman purchase has one. Really a nice, accommodating engine....I guess the Courage single 20 hp (that lots of folks including me had on their 20-46 Husqvarnas) gave them a black eye and they resolved to get their name back. I preferred Kohler for years before the Courage and dumped the brand as a result. Guess it's back in good standing.
