Dave, I use valvoline 80 90w gear lub with limited slip additive. Couldn't find any. Full synthetic dosen't work. Then I discovered valvoline now makes 75 90w limited slip gear lub.
The first number is for cold weather. I use cheap 10w40 oil for RK in my old tractors, lawn mowers. Don't think 5w40 oil will hurt. Rk sells 10w30.
Most GM vehicles I've owned recommends 5w30. My 2018 now wants 5w30 full synthetic that lasts 6000 miles. Old GM vehicles oil lasted 3000 miles. George
