The hour meter stopped on my John Deere 2355. No cab. It has synchronized transmission, 4 Hi-4 Lo. New hour meter is $385. A new complete 20 mph instrument cluster for synchronized transmission is $1520, dealer only. A new complete 20 mph instrument cluster for JD-2355, no cab with collar shift transmission, 4 Hi-4 Lo, is around $369, and aftermarket is $200 to $290. Here's the kicker. All the components are the same in both clusters, except they don't specify the printed circuit board in either one. My guess is it's the same because the mph rating, guages, and all the instrument lights are the same. John Deere support has been pushed off to the dealers. I'm past tired of calling dealer mechanics to ask the question that needs to be answered. Is there any reason why the collar shift transmission cluster shouldn't work with synchronized transmission? Both clusters have 20 mph rating and both have identical instrument lights and guages. Has anybody had the experience of using the collar shift cluster as a replacement on a 2355 with synchronized transmission? Any help is appreciated.
