WHY FEED 8 when 6 will do . Over the years i have run a few V 8's , 318's, 8 V 92 V 8 Mack's . 903 's, 3208's , DV 550 and 900's and the only V 8 that ever really impressed me were the 500 Mack's that PEP Drilling ran back in the Clinton Play . Pep had them Puppy's cranked up big time . They moved the drilling rigs . just the rig weighed in at 210000 lbs and they made moving then look like childs play . Talk about ROLLING COAL wow when they took off they would block out the sun at high noon . I built one of there locations for them and the head tool pusher asked if i could stay and help with rig up and dragging trucks in . The lease road back to the pad was 3280 feet back in off the U S highway to the pin and it had a couple soft spots . I was setting at one of the soft spots waiting for the rig . I saw him coming and he was flat out getting with it , i saw him start to slow down to make the turn into the lease road as per instructions i made the entrance double wide as the norm was 40 feet this one was 80 wide and 300 long with two foot of stone base . This driver rally did not slow down much when making the turn in and dropped maybe three gears and stood on it with coal back smoke coming out both 7 inch stacks and here he comes hammer down . I had to get off the lease road as he come blazing by and straight thru the soft spots and only dropping one gear It was that last soft spot that got him when the rig sank and he was throwing rooster tails off all the drive tires before he stopped . That V 8 impressed me . It took four D 6 class dozers to drag him out with 60000 lb winches with double line pull snatch blocks .
