In the 20's my Dad and his high school friend ran a dairy farm and went to school and helped on the home farms. Pop was 78 when he passed, 33 years ago, he worked awful hard and just wore out. I miss him every day.
I paid for my college by raising replacement heifers. We did everything with converted horse equipment, in the mid-50's we filled the gamble roofed barn with hay clear to the peak.... with pitchforks.
