Maybe I need to start with some fasthitch basics first. What should the fasthitch receiver width be from center to center on a 706? Mine measures about 32" but it sounds as if it should be 28" from what I can gather. Looking at the hitch there is considerable space between the receiver hitch arms and the rub plates on the tractor. Could it be someone spread the hitch out to try to make it fit something at some time in the past? If so, I could remove the hitch and probably press it back to the original 28" if that's what it should be. Id like it to be correct. In the deal I also got a pair of new 3-point adapters that have a 2" offset in each. If the receiver was actually at 28" and these adapters used I could get a 32" width which looks like it should fit my plow. Does my thinking make sense?
Any reason I couldnt make my own custom adapters out of some 1-1/4" x 3" bar stock and plasma cut them to shape? Maybe weld a ball socket in the end. Do the adapters need to be hardened or anything?
