The weather woes here in the Mid Atlantic go like this: it was blazing hot and dry for the last 3 weeks. T storms were sporadic and our place is in a dry area where the storms tend to track slightly south or north of us. No rain for 2 weeks. Plants getting very stressed. Then, over the weekend a couple of shots of rain. The 2nd cutting grass is ready to bale and not as crispy as it was. 3rd cutting alfalfa is now full bloom from the heat. Here comes this tropical storm, moving nice and slow. We will easily get 3-4” of rain. The humidity will be near 100% and it will take days for the ground to dry up. If only the timing of these storms wasn’t early August, more like mid July after 2nd beans go in and corn is filling out. It happens about every other year, maybe even more often. Hopefully won’t be the flash floods and damage as in years past. Then more unsettled weather on the way. Oh boy. Even more annoying is the constant amount of news alerts about how bad it ‘might’ get. That public service is dumbed down and directed at those few individuals who are completely oblivious to their surroundings and done at a complete saturation level. By the time it is all over, the hype is 2x worse than the actual event. And of course they NEVER remind anyone to clean out their gutters or storm drains beforehand of the heat dropped leaves and sticks, so the street flooding is worse than it could have been.
