2004 feature update is rolling out in phases.. base on your particular pc and its components. Yes.. many of my pc's have partially installed it and then had to roll back to version 1909 or 1903...pend your pc.
each time it tries, and fails, it sends a report back to microsoft and their engineers then modify the update so that next time the problem encountered,, will work... Problem is... that it can then go past the first problem and get to the next problem where a component does not like a particular driver update.
SO... best leave it till it stalls out,,, and then goes into a automatic "roll back".. If it stalls forever, a forced reboot should also roll it back to the previous software.
Lots of early video card configurations have caused problems in the past so they have to write a patch for them as the original manufacturer will no longer support 5 and 10 year old hardware.
Ironically some of my older laptops have already upgraded successfully to version 2004 where my newest computer is still trying and having to roll back at least twice now. I run around 13 computers with my ham radio wspr setups, backup server, my music and video servers and then scattered players and internet access in the various buildings so its always interesting to watch them struggle through the major updates. or not.
