Hello, 2 days ago while baling hay I developed an issue with my John Deere 5105 tractor I finished one small relatively flat field with no issues and went up the road and baled 2 more loads of hay also with no issues. I started on a third load and when baling the outside windrow (almost done) the tractor quit as I went uphill. I went yesterday and changed the fuel filter (100 hrs early by man. Interval) and it started right up but then quit again . After refilling the filter a couple times with similar results I took the fuel line off at the tank and filter and blew everything out and checked for flow out of the tank. It ran out a little slow from the tank( after giving my arm a good fuel bath) then ran good. After this and one more filling of fuel filter it started and ran good. I finished baling and raked some hay. When I started baling later that afternoon I had to go on flat ground 3/4 of the way then a gradual uphill and turn at the end steep uphill . On the steep uphill it quit again. The fuel tank is nearly full, I used a small air pump with a gauge to check for any possible sucking air by pressuring everything from the tank line up to the pump and everything was good. I plan to check the return line out . There is no transfer/lift pump and I don’t see where the injection pump has a lift pump built in like my bulldozer does . I am thinking of adding an 12v inline lift pump. Would that be a good idea? How much pressure would be necessary? Am I missing anything else here? I am going to try attaching pictures of the pump and it’s data tag. Sorry if this is a long post, I wanted to try and include as much information as possible.
