Hi folks Iam back, in the town of Ancenis Marcel Braud made his first Manitou
forklift truck in 1958 based on a French built Farmall Cub tractor. It quickly took
off and over the years using French built IH skid units and in 1972 they were
intrduced into the UK. From 1973 they used the UK built IH444 tractor with the 8
speed transmission and the forward nd reverse gearbox and the heavy duty clutch.
The machine was known as the MB25C with a liftig capacity of 2.5 tons and this was
superceded by the 2.6 ton MB26C IN 1982. This is the machine in the photos that Hot
HeadZ as just bought and you IH men will reconise the Bradford built tractor parts.
I started selling Manitous in 1973 for an IH tractor dealer then in 1982 I started
my own company selling used machines. in 1989 I became a Manitou dealer selling new
machines and that lasted till 2009 when manitou changed their marketing polices.
Iam still in buisness at the age of 76 carrying out service and repair work on all
ages of machines with one engineer who has been with me 24 years. Now to the
missing 1st gear take the pin out holding the gear lever in ith housing then line
the three selectors up in a line and refit the gearlever. Hope I have given you all
an insight to Manitou fork lift trucks. MJ (Michael).
