Thanks - I really had no issues with the sickle mower as we kept it tuned-up and in good shape and it cut like a champ and fast. Laid the hay out even across the field for drying. Our only issue with it was - with a day job, often we were pushed in the late evenings and after dark and as the heavy dew came, it would plug. The other problem is in the VA mountains where we farm, you're lucky to get a 3 day clear window for haying and a 5 day window is almost impossible - so we needed conditioning. We bought a Hesston 1110, still have an use it to some extent. The Hesston is an excellent machine. Our issue with it was also late evening/night cutting and plugging with heavy dew or trying to cut after a rain. The other problem was 7ft cut and I wanted to get on and off the field faster. I found a smokin' deal on a 9ft Krone mower conditioner and bought it. It has tine impellers which work great with our grass hay, but it is unstoppable in the heaviest of hay. Our mowing time, depending on field geometry, has been cut in half. If you see some of our videos with the MF1105 and Krone, some of them show us cutting at 7 mph with a clean cut. I could go faster, tractor has plenty of power, but it get's to be a rough ride. The MF and Krone at 7 mph are a sweet combo.
