As a youngster I remember watching them shear sheep with a mechanised clipper that worked like the current ones, except it was driven by 2 or 3 shafts connected with universal joints and powered by another person turning a crank and gear box on a stand. Later they used the same set-up powered by an electric motor. After that came the hand held electric powered clippers that are in use today. Show sheep are still clipped and trimmed with grass type hand clippers. Question----How do the Aussies castrate lambs? Fred
