Actually not the US price but the World market price of $35.35 The US was able to hold it at around $35 because they would give anyone presenting $35 US Federal Reserve Notes an ounce of Gold except US citizens which were not lawfully able to own Gold.Even after the US quit that the price of Gold didn't go up all that much for awhile.
