Is there only wire on your 1 wire alternator connected to the bat stud on the alternator rear?
If so I would try disconnecting the wire from the bat stud and protect it from shorting to the tractor. What works for me is to stick the hot wire inside a short lenght of garden or heater hose and or use a little tape. leave everything else connected and see if the problem goes away.
If the short is in the alternator,it may have a shorted diode in the rectifier. The story is still out there that a Delco 1 wire alternator will slowly drain the battery. This was true with the early genuine delco regulator for the 27SI alternator, the new aftermarket 1 wire regulators are not connected to the battery and cause no drain. The down side of these new 1 wire regulators is that they need more alternator speed to kick in and they lack the charge rate adjustibility of the old 27SI truck regulator. If you had a 2 or 3 wire Delco alternator,mis wiring at the regulator #1and#2 terminals can cause a slow battery discharge( #1 regulator terminal must be hot only when the ign is on,#2 must be wired to constant battery voltage)
