I've been buying and selling tractors for awhile, and the only thing that works for me is to know how much you can get for a given make and model, then haunt the consignment sales (not farm sales) and buy bargains. If the tractor is OK and you bought it right, you can make a few bucks after a cheap cosmetic fixup. If it has problems, take it back to another consignment sale and get your money back out of it. You still can't make much, but it give you an excuse to go the auctions if you like that sort of thing.
