Ken. Let cooler heads prevail here. Go to court with the ticket in one hand and your building permit,(bet you had to get one) and the bill for fixing your door in the other. If that don't work request the jury trial and during jury selection which you get a say in, make sure 1 farmer gets on the jury. Case dismissed unless the judge is your accusers brother-in-law. Be careful then. You never did say how big that town is...anyway lastly organize your local area farmers to have a drive by around town. Pick a day and get it on the books before they pass the ord not to let tractors drive the streets. As long as they display slow moving signs, (and I mean SLOOOOW moving) if there were enough of them slowing down the works for a day to prove a point, they just might leave you alone. Run it around the lunch hour when everyone else in town races around trying to get some farm raised food in their bellies. After two times those folks would brown bag it and sit on the benches watching all you tractors drive around. I don't think there is an ord anywhere that would stop a tractor from pulling in to a station to fuel, even to top off...if you get my drift. Most ord I know of for parking don't apply to running vehicles or moving ones for that matter. I bet you wouldn't have too much trouble forming a group who would like nothing more than drive around town for an hour or so if for no other reason to remind everybody how much we all depend on the farmer. If I were 1500 miles closer, I'd have my three on the trailer already. We put the word out that classic cars would be welcome at the local custard stand on third Saturday night every month. Two years later you can't get anything newer than a 1970 within 2 blocks of the place. Bet you could generate the same interest. No one gets hurt...everyone wakes up. Just get it on the books before they pass the ord against it. By the way, if you don't already, start waving at your neighbors as you pass them on the street. The one who doesn't wave back...well you found em. Let us know how it comes out.

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
