OK I know this is going to draw all kind of answers so let me explain why I need the answer first. I already searched the board and know the answer is on here but have not found it. I am working on a international scout. This thing was running perfect (little four cylinder) and I started down the drive and it backfired, took it to two different mechanics no luck so I found a rusty one with same engine that had sit up for a couple of years. These scout come from the factor with early electronic ignition much like Petronics. I could never get to changing the engine so hired a young man and when he traded the engine he converted the engine back to standard ignition with points. Brought it back to me and it ran perfect off the trailer. Two days latter I start it and all kind of backfiring, OK bad gas, no good gas, ok points stuck new points, checked timing , been on it three days, removed the coil and it says NO EXTERNAL RESISTER required. So off to auto zone, they have one that says the same thing but it is marked 6 volts, he hands me one that has no marking on it and says this is what you need. I want to know what the restience should read on a 12 volt coil that does NOT use an external resister. Hate to burn up the points. Thanks in advance for reading this long post.

You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o
