I don't know anything about the 5000 Ford, but most carbs have an idle air/fuel screw near the top- usually kept in place by a spring coiled around it. You could try turning it out 1/4 turn or so. If you open it up too much so it runs ok cold , it will usually be to rich when it warms up. Sometimes raising the float level an extra 1/32-1/16 in. will help also. and sometimes its just the nature of the beast!!--Good luck--Bill
