The 186 series dates to around 1980, when Yanmar was producing John Deer's small tractors completely. The only drawback in the 186 series is the lack of a water pump, they are thermosyphon cooled, and need to be flushed every few years to prevent overheating. There is a Yanmar Club on Yahoo, with a lot of good guys and information. I have a 240D 1981 model and the only money I ever put in the machine was a starter solonoid.
