My advise- Look at what your going to use it for and for how long. Are you going to do a lot of short trips -starting and stopping or longer ones. If your going to use it as a truck a lot of the time ,then go diesel. If your going to use it as a car most of the time ,and as a truck once in a while go gas. They both have their place . I drive and fix the big rigs and my pickup is a gas. We have long winters up here and most people I know with diesels have them plugged in all the time in the winter when their not running. My old gasser hardly ever gets plugged in. I drove an 81 chev crew cab with a 454 for many years, pulled it a lot grossing out as high as 37000lbs. and there wasn't and probably still isn't a light duty diesel on the road that could stay with it pulling - and lots of them tried, of course it wasn't limited by a dang computer either. It would outpull the newer fuel injected gassers too. They just don't have the hp.and thats all there is to it . High torque at lower rpms. is good but hp. is what really counts. Ask any truck driver!! So-- are you going to need that hp. all day long or for five minutes at a time to climb a hill with 10000lbs. behind. In a big rig you need that hp. all day long, but in small units its a question of
usage. Buy whatever meets your needs.
