Your story is a refreshing one. I sometimes your generation is maligned because the most vocal of the your lot sometimes don't show much promise. Luckily, I am active with a bunch of youth groups, and I have high hopes.

Just one little piece of advice. The luxury of doing what you want depends on your success. And to be successful requires good management. And good management means thinking everything through. To succeed these days you need to be a good businessman, a good citizen, and you need the wisdom to forsee the changes that come down the road.

Luckily, you have resourses that provide information to you easily. This is an advantage not that old....be sure to use it. Too many farmers hold on to long, wishing for "the way it used to be". And they become miserable. Treat your farm and land as a business, that just so happens to provide wholesome perks.

just to give you an example....about 15 years ago, one of my neighbors was gossipping about what a nut another neighbor was, with his fancy financed tractors and equipment, and how he was gonna go bankrupt, etc. You guessed it, that guy owns the gossipers farm. Instead of sitting around grumping and gossiping, that farmer was figuring out the best way to support his family. Of course somehow he's a "big time farmer" now to all the displaced farmers. Sour Grapes to me.

In other words, hard work is only one part of the equation....using your head is the most important!

Good Luck, and god Bless you.
Sincerely
Steve
