Hi, It is a good life. We have many Amish folks who have moved into the Central part of lower Michigan in the last 20 years. The small farms are increasing as well as the Amish. I grew up in the Thumb of Michigan and about the only practices different from the Amish at that time was we had electricity and worshipped in a church. My mode of organic farming is a bit more advanced using tractors instead of horses, however, my machinery is very old and you walk the fields with hoes and other tools as part of the war on weeds. I'm not breathing in any more poisons of my own doing, but I can't control the "What has Bigness Wrought" farming techniques, which are truly Corporation Owned, like Monsanto beans, etc. surrounding us and the wildlife. We may or may not make it, only the Good Lord, good prices for Organic produce, and a smarter society plus our own common sense will tell the tale.
