David, Unfortunately I'm not familiiar with the Ford 8N. However I may be of some help regarding the Leylands from England. They were available in various sizes from 45 to 100 HP. Strengths Clutch renewal can be performed without splitting the tractor. Easy to work on. Weaknesses Brakes are of a dry disc type and can be troublesome due to dust build up. Power steering systems are prone to wear on the activating links and cause sloppy steering. (These can be easily fixed) PTO engagement tricky. (Upgrade kits were available to overcome this) Draft control may not work due to implements bouncing harshly while travelling on the road. The weight of the implement can crack the belville washer which acts as a load monitoring device for the draft control. Once again this can be easily fixed.
