I would opt for a pull behind over a belly mower if you plan to use the tractor in the field. We just bought an International 464 wich is a cadillac of a tractor. It has plenty of power and heavy enough to easily control a hay wagon. There's several models in the 4*4 line of tractors. Most have already been mentioned in another posting. Other options in the JD line would be a 420,430 or a 1010. Thes are smaller but good solid tractors. All have live PTO and 3pt. hitch and pertty good stopping power. For something bigger look to a 520 or 530.
