I have had 50 series tractors at work for over 15 years, 1050 and 1250. I have owned a 1050 with loader for personal use for the last 9 years. I purchased a 970 MFD with loader for work about 7 years ago. The 70 series is more of what I would call a suburbanite tractor. It has more comfort features such as side mounted shift levers and a step through deck. The 70 series design uses a different hood design and more sheetmetal in the operators area, the 50 series had a hood that pivoted forward a cowl around the fuel tank and fenders with step plates. I have found the 70 series to be more comfortable to operate, but prefer the ease of service and ruggedness of the 50 series.
