I was able to bolster my supply by collecting some stacks that were sitting awhile down along the powerlines, + I've got the top of a large dead elm ready to buck, that and what I have on hand should do it for 2 months. I've got next years logs headed up already and will add to that, next season I'll be more than ready. Darned town's modern rules require a permit for any shed over 4x8 or so, I need to get something going for a real shed, one side for tractors, the other for firewood, my carts and splitter. Sure would be nice to have one, gives you a reference point as to how much you need split, once full, you know you are good. I have various stacks around to keep covered.
Like you, I burn all kinds of wood, black cherry, any kind of maple, oak when I can get it, apple, elm, buckthorn, alder, pine for kindling when I have it. 28 ton splitter deals with the gnarly, crotch and similar wood, it all burns and some of this makes great late night last stoke blocks for the firebox, they last longer. If retired, I would be out on this land quite a bit making firewood until these fields are trimmed back, some areas cleared etc. Good honest work and not so hard with some of the equipment I have.
