I wish I had a dime for everytime I have been cut off or have some one pass then nail the brakes as soon as thy get in front so they can make a turn or stop for traffic while hauling big loads of grain with my tractor. Dry weight of the tractor is like 17,000lbs plus fluid, fuel and 12 suitcase weigths, add 900 bushels of wet corn plus the wagons weigth ( 80,000 pounds total). I go slow and still can not stop on a dime, but people think its a Ferrari.
I get passed on the right side while making a wide right turn. It is very unnerving. The last one to play chicken with me was a young girl with a baby in a Ford Escort. I still shake when I think about it, too too too close.
I would not sustain any injury in most of these incidents but the destruction to the other vehicle and its occupants makes me shudder.
I live near a small rural/industrial town, and the only elevator left to deliver grain to is in the town. When going through town I also have to watch for hitch hikers (Kids on Bikes grabbing on to the wagon). I have stopped a number of time to give the kids a scolding and heard language from 8 year olds that would make a drill seargent blush.
Please give us some room and have a little patience we to are in a hurry at planting time and harvest . When in an accident with farm equipment everyone loses.
