Are you a traction engine owner/operator? You seem to consider yourself an expert. Your call for tighter regulation is typical knee jerk reaction from the uninformed. I do not appreciate your insinuation that those who have steamstractors are unqualified, simpleminded daredevils who want to operate at all costs. Me? I am an expert. i served on the Texas Board of Labor and Standards Historic Boiler Commitee, am a Certified ASME Boiler Firemand via the state of Ark., FRA locomotive engineer, and I own and exhibit steam traction engines, all inspected by the state. The boiler on the 110 Case that blew was in safe condition until its operators were distracted by what ever, and the water was allowed to get unsafely low. NO AMOUNT OF REGULATION CAN ELIMINATE THE VARIABLE OF HUMAN ERROR. DILIGENCE IS THE ONLY SAFETY FACTOR.
