: A husband and wife team are moving from San Francisco to farm country in Maine and are now responsible for mowing 6 acres and plowing over 150 feet of drive.

: Looking for a tractor, mower, plow, and wagon. Do I need anything else. Any quality used equipment I should consider/avoid? HELP!

Sounds like everyone has a opinion, which is good! Life would be boring otherwise.
I have a MF 135 diesel. Very, very cheap to run, and much more power than a gas jobby, Don't be scared of a diesel in the winter, use a winter oil, for example 0W-40 from Esso which is part sinthetic and also has better viscosity at 100 C than any other multi grades.
You can even get away using it in the summer.
They have also invented things called block heaters, in which you plug the tractor in and in a couple of hrs it is warmer than starting it in the summer.
I have used a 5 foot allied snow blower on the back of the three point hitch
works really great.
we use to have a ford 8N and all the acessories work on the MF. And there are tons of the 3 pth , used around .
The guy that said to go with the 4020. Great tractor but probably way too big
A 3020 is alot handier tractor and cheaper to run. only a four cyl. It is rated about 67 HP
I have farmed up to 400 acres with the 3020.
Now if money is no object. Well just go out and buy new. There are some many different makes and options out there that you can buy it will make your head spin, and also your wallet
The best place I have found deals are at auction sales.
The fun part is the looking for what you want and meeting people.
Happy hunting!

I have been a collector of Farmall tractors since 1990 when I first obtained part of the family farm in Eastern Indiana.
