: I plan to move my 67 ford 4000 tractor on a standard utility trailer with a 3/4 GMC with a standard 4 speed transmission about 40 miles. My trailer does not have breaks does any body have any experience moving a Ford 4000 with a similiar set-up? I would rent a trailer with brakes they aren't very expensive, i think I paid 25 dollars a day for a 15 ft equip. trailer with chains and binders included. I hauled a JD A 65 miles behind a chevy 3500hd dually w/ no brakes on the trailer. I got loaded and started home and the brakes failed . My total loaed weight was about 6500-7500lbs it was the worst two hours I have ever driven. even with just a trailer weighing in at a ton and a half its too much for a truck to stop in a hurry. It is the worst feeling in the world to hit your brakes and not be able to stop. Don't chance it you probably could make it but taking a chance on killing someone or yourself isn't worth the cost of renting a trailer. Josh
