I've been looking this over and thinking about it in my mind since you posted. ...Thinking about it a lot!! That's a sweet machine, for sure! Me, personally, I wouldn't have much use for the old cable controls. However, this design is really quite close to what a more modern excavator would be. So in the interest of keeping a part of the past alive, would it be wrong to "modernize" such a machine by replacing the cables with hydraulics, rather than letting the machine go to the scrap yard?
...And no, I'm not asking in order to buy it. Maryland is WAYYYYYY too far to haul that thing!
