Look at the 2-8-9n page of this site. Look at the vast number of them that start hard or won't start. I got to operate a 2n, 9n, and 8 n in the early 1960's for our neighbor who had Alzheimer's. They did not start well, its a good thing we only lived 1.5 miles from the ford dealership. I don't know how many times my brothers and I drug one of them to the dealership. BRAKES ??? They did not work very well. Made them very dangerous. The old ford mechanic at the dealership told me ( Henry Ford made the brakes on a 2-8-9n ford to be a little better than the brakes on a horse drawn high wheeled wagon). The 3 point hitch will safely lift between 500 and 600 lbs. They are usually pretty worthless with a loader on the front, why?? You can hardly steer it. If you buy this thing and are going to use the PTO be sure you buy a new over riding clutch for it. A very good friend of mine was killed with one because the over riding clutch did not work. His dad just bought it the week before and they did not know it didn't work. I have hauled over 3000 of these things to the scrap yard in the past 30+ years. Most were given to me because people got tired of spending a ton of money on them just trying to keep them running. Buy the newer tractor. It is a WHOLE lot more tractor than any n ford.
