While the U.S. has become the "Police Force of the World", it was by design supposed to be a neutral country. Doesn't mean that we shouldn't/couldn't be able to protect our own borders, but the main point was to be a land of peace; not of military might.
As strongly as I am in favor of "honoring" our military men and women, it's painfully obvious that such a display on our part would be going against the founding ideals of our nation. ...But then when has that ever stopped us??
If ANYTHING were to be put on display, I feel it should be older battle machines of decades/wars past, rather than to "show off" how mighty we are.
I don't keep up with the news (too depressing....and never know just what or how much is real), but if POTUS wants to have such a "parade" using our modern military equipment, then count my vote out!
