Just before I started farming, I built an A frame tow hitch out of galvanized pipe. Used it when I bought a tractor and planter at auction- hooked the 494 planter behind the Dodge pickup, the tractor in front of the truck, hooked to the tow bar. Drove it about 30 miles to the farm we were buying.
Built a 10 foot long A frame hitch to pull junk combines home. Hooked to steering axle, one was pulled about 8 miles, the other about 15. Had to make wide turns on corners, since it didn"t steer the trailing combine. Built a steerable one that clamped to a Gleaner M2, towed that backwards 90 miles with a 4450 MFWD.
