: A husband and wife team are moving from San Francisco to farm country in Maine and are now responsible for mowing 6 acres and plowing over 150 feet of drive. : Looking for a tractor, mower, plow, and wagon. Do I need anything else. Any quality used equipment I should consider/avoid? HELP! My Ferg 30 is very similar to a Ford in size and weight. It's got a 6 ft "snow" bucket and will move one heckuva lot of snow AS LONG AS there is lotsa weight and or chains. The first winter I had it, I had 450 pounds of cement on the back - no chains. Got on some ice on a smooth flat area and had to be pulled off ! Put on chains and it was like a bulldozer by comparison. Since then I've mounted a 1200lb back hoe on it and I don't need chains any more. It plows, digs and hauls all I want it to do. I dont have a hog and without the overriding clutch it might be a problem if I did. Find one you like and get it. If you're like most tractor owners you'll find one you like better soon after anyway ! Good luck with whatever you get.
