Not a good way to end the year or start the new one for me... went to my eye doc last Friday due to some floaters and a growing area of blurred vision in my right eye. He put me on his fancy new machine and discovered a retinal tear and an area of separated retina. His office set up an immediate appointment to see a retina surgeon.
We hurried to their office in Columbus (same building where my wife goes to an ophthalmologist) and they got me in pretty quickly and did an emergency surgery to repair the tear and injected gas in the eye, making a bubble that would press against the separation and force the fluid from behind the retina. Problem is I have to lay on my left side constantly so the bubble floats up to the right side of my eye. Been this way since we got home Friday afternoon. Only to be up 5 min. an hour. So, no New Years dinner or celebration or the normal things we do. No back to work yet either.
My wife, God bless her, has had to feed the llamas and clean in the barn, this in 0 to 5 degree temps. I hate being inside while she is out there 2 2 1/2 hrs. a night in this weather. And taking care of everything in the house too, all without complaint . I guess I owe her big time. Going back to the surgeon tomorrow to see where we are with all this. At the very least I've probably saved the sight in my eye.
