JM, get the shot ! About a year ago my doctor asked me if I wanted the shot and I hesitated. She told me that having the shot doesn't prevent you from getting shingles , but you will have a mild case of them. Well about May I lost my brother and had a stressful few weeks and then, I started getting pain under my arms in the lymph glands and somewhat on my chest. I figured I had pulled a muscle, then my back got itchy. Well I decided to look up the symptoms of shingles and I had enough symptoms that I went to the Dr. Sure enough I had them. Well I had a bit of a fever for a few days and a rash on my shoulder blade(left), the lymph gland pain subsided and within three weeks I didn't even notice them, by mid June the rash was gone and I would never know I had them. My father had tem,he had the worst rash and scars on the left side of his face and body,took almost a year to clear up and his were very painful and left him with scars and an eye that ached often. Because of the shot I had a very mild case which the Dr. says helped me build further immunity along with the shot and now the chances of ever getting shingles again is statistically zero. What many people do not realize is the severity that can occur and even death from severe shingles. I am sure glad I got the shot
