We had it at the diesel shop because the have a bridge crane. They were going to replace the rear seal or the transmission seal depending on which was causing the leak. The price was high but livable, after they pulled the engine, the front bearing on the transmission was gone, I went and looked and they weren't trying to pull one over on us. They didn't want to do the transmission themselves, so they sent it out to a transmission shop that specializes in heavy equipment. That was the last we heard. I was going to call today and find out what is up.
Scott, the fellow that sold it to us pointed out (after we'd let them send it off) that right on Photo Ads, there were several people in the midwest who could have shipped us one much more cheaply, and given the time, it would have been faster.
I was talking yesterday to one of my son's friends who fabricates bridge cranes amongst other things. I probably could have done that for a quarter of the price of the repairs, even with a brand new hoist and trolly set. It would be handy too.
