2017 Grand champion winner in the FFA tractor restoration contest at the Kansas State Fair. There were a total of 5 tractors entered, a far cry from a few years back, but it's nice to see them anyway. This years grand champion winner was a 1929 John Deere GP. The student had some accounting figures that I didn't quite understand, as he listed that it cost a total of $27,000 to restore this tractor by somehow charging himself $145/hour labor when he worked on it and $19,000 was listed as labor. By doing my Jethro Clampett math, it appears to me that it took something like $8,000 in parts to get it into the condition that it currently is. I'm not going to argue with him, as I think it turned out pretty good and I know parts for an animal of this age don't grow on trees. It sure is nice to get back home because three days of eating "Fair" food just about did me in.

Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o
