Tell those farmers that if it weren't for the Ford/Ferguson design, the behemoths they have to bust their butts to pay for wouldn't have the 3-point hitch or even linch pins. They'd still be pulling a trip plow from a staionary drawbar. Anyway, the first question I would ask you is, "What do you want to do with a tractor?" if you want to pull a little trailer and perhaps scrape the drive or cut the grass, or haul manure, or any of a thousand things, the 8N will probably do a good job of it. If you want to plow 200 acres a day, you probably need something just a tad bigger. For all-around versatility the little Ford is hard to beat. If I didn't have an 8N, I'd try to find a Jubilee or NAA or 100-series with live PTO and improved hydraulics. There are tractors out there for every application and budget. Decide what you want to do with it and that will guide you better than asking others. It's like computers. Some folks get along fine with a 486 DX with 8 mb of RAM. Others like the convenience and speed of a 400 Mhz Pentium with 128 mb of RAM. Each one serves a purpose that only the operator can judge as to performance.
