Okay, so, I'm still working on this Ford Jubilee. Among some more major things, I had to replace the PTO Bearing and seal, which requires a new interference fit sleeve to hold the bearing in place. That was fun (not...). This new sleeve is the surface on which the PTO seal rides, so it is new - no worn grooves or anything like that. Got the new seal from YT Parts store. Very different looking seal than what was on the tractor. Question became: Which way to install it?? It is a double lip seal, and there is a tension spring around the lip on one side. My best guess was that the side with the tension spring should go towards the differential sump, and that's the way I installed it. Unfortunately, it has a very slow leak... Now I am wondering if it is in backwards?? Does anyone know for sure which way it should be installed?
Appreciate your thoughts. (And, yes, I know, I should have asked the question here before I installed it...)
